I Lead: Stories of Caribbean Women Leaders [E-Book]

Publication date of e-book, 1st edition: December 2023

Caribbean Women in Leadership (CIWiL) is very proud to launch its first e-book edition of, “I Lead: Stories of Caribbean Women Leaders,” a publication aimed at a preadolescent readership.

This publication was created with the support of ParlAmericas and the Government of Canada, through Global Affairs Canada. It is strengthened by the contributions of several women featured in the book, their families, CIWiL members and friends, to whom we are tremendously thankful.

In line with CIWiL’s mission to advance women’s transformational leadership at the national and regional levels, this publication introduces children to gender equality, human rights, empowerment of women and girls, transformational leadership, and related concepts through a combination of short explanatory writings, narratives of the life and works of women leaders from CARICOM member states, as well as stimulating activities.

It is at once a celebration of Caribbean women leaders and an educational tool that can help to unlock the potential of girls and plant seeds of consciousness in all children of equity and justice. The book is thus an important learning and development resource for enforcing positive gender socialisation and counteracting norms that limit outcomes for girls and boys in education, employment, empowerment, and wellbeing. It is our intention for this book to be read and used in homes and schools across the Caribbean, and incorporated into children’s study, recreation and play. Refer to the publication’s copyright page for information on authorised uses and on requesting permissions.
