Who We Are

Caribbean Women in Leadership

Caribbean Women in Leadership (CIWiL) is a non-partisan and independent, flagship networking organization committed to advancing women’s  transformational leadership, and to increase the numbers of women in leadership and decision making in political and civic life.

Our History

The Caribbean Women in Leadership (CIWiL) was conceptualised in 1998 by a collective of women. They were concerned by the continued marginalisation of women from positions of leadership and power and understood that women must be fully involved in the decision-making processes that impact their lives – and play a role in the critique, understanding, and practice of leadership in the Caribbean – in order to achieve more just, violence-free and equitable nations.

Our Mission

To drive the advancement of Caribbean women in leadership, at the national and regional levels, through advocacy, partnership, sisterliness, mentorship, training, and development.

Our Vision

An organisation that enables Caribbean women to realise gender equality and equity for sustainable, transformational leadership.
