Research

The under representation of women in leadership positions led to a group of concerned Caribbean women in 1988 to conceptualize a network which would become the Caribbean Institute of Women in Leadership. This network of women comprising of activists, parliamentarians and regional development practitioners since 1988 have been conducting research on Women’s Political Participation as well as training and supporting women to gain electoral office and leadership positions across the Caribbean.

Transformative Engagement

This non-profit organization established to strengthen and monitor the work of increasing women’s leadership in the region, is also a non-political, non partisan and independent institution. The institute works with ‘individual women and men and organizations that are committed to gender equality and women’s empowerment (CIWIL). Over the past several years its work has included but not limited to: –

  • Training election candidates
