- Violence is not power. Violence does not make you a man. It is never justified. Stop violence against women now.
- 1 in 5 Jamaican women reported being sexually abused before reaching 18 years of age. Violence against girls is a serious issue which must be eradicated.
- 1 in 4 Jamaican women reported being sexually harassed. Employers, colleagues – let us do better to make our workplaces free from violence. Implement sexual harassment policies. Protect women in all spaces.
- Victims of gender-based violence are often blamed and shamed for their experience. Listen to and believe victims and survivors. Let us work to end victim blaming.
- 29% of Jamaican women have experienced emotional abuse in their lifetimes. Violence is not only physical or sexual. I stand against all forms of violence.
- Violence against women and girls can be physical, sexual, emotional, psychological and economic. No form of violence is acceptable. Let’s recognise the common signs of all forms of abuse and support victims and survivors.
