Gender Pay Equity in Focus

Data reveals that in Latin America and the Caribbean, for every one dollar a man makes, a woman makes 72 cents.

Other data identifies that:

  • Women are 267.6 years away from gender parity in the area of economic participation and opportunity, which included equal pay (Global Gender Gap Report, 2021)
  • Women perform 80% of domestic tasks which limits their effective labor force participation (ILP Report, 2019)

CIWiL hosted a Regional Webinar, entitled “Achieving Gender Pay Equity by 2030”. The webinar served to enable sharing of experiences of gender pay inequity, deepening understanding of its roots, manifestations and implications, and significantly, identifying practical actions that can be taken by various parties – employers, employers’ associations, workers, trade unions, the State, intergovernmental entities, multistakeholder groups – to close gender pay gaps.
