Summary:

There is no doubt that the COVID-19 pandemic is driving a health, economic and social crisis, disrupting society across all sectors and impacting the way we live in unprecedented ways.  On 19 May, 2020 150 women from around the region gathered online as part of CIWiL’s regional webinar series to discuss the COVID-19 global pandemic and its gendered impact in the Caribbean space. As the impact of COVID-19 intensifies, globally women are being disproportionately affected. With the stark gendered impacts of COVID-19 this webinar is viewed as a space to allow for a regional conversation about the path forward. The webinar included focused discussions on priority areas related to gender equality, COVID-19 and post pandemic responses in the Caribbean. As the Caribbean region and world continue to respond to the unfolding COVID-19 pandemic, it is critical to highlight the importance of ensuring recovery efforts are equitable.
