CIWiL Provides Leadership Support to Women in Antigua and Barbuda
CIWiL Antigua and Barbuda National Chapter has announced plans to host training for women
candidates, their teams and women in leadership on Saturday, October 8, 2022. The one-day
in-person workshop will take place at the Conference Room of the Department of the
Environment, Factory Road St. John’s, Antigua from 9am to 5:30pm.
The training workshop is aimed at preparing candidates and providing women leaders with the
skills and knowledge to strengthen their capacity as social change agents. The training is
central to enhancing the skills, knowledge and values of women to participate more effectively in
the political process and varied leadership spaces.
CIWiL is a non-partisan and independent networking organization committed to increasing the
numbers of women in leadership and decision making in political and civic life across the
Caribbean region. The provision of training in support of electoral women candidates is a key
initiative of the organization.
CIWiL is optimistic that this training will support more women as they pursue leadership
opportunities within the political landscape, and that there will be an increase in the percentage
of women represented in Parliament from 11.1% following the next general election as the
nation takes a proactive approach to advancing women’s rights and representation.
Workshop topics will include women’s transformational leadership, strategies for running a
successful campaign, as well as communication and media skills for leadership and
campaigning.
The free one-day workshop is open to all women candidates, their teams and women interested
in leadership.
Lunch and all workshop material will be provided. COVID-19 protocols will be observed.
